Lynn's Summer School

So I was home from my weekend escapade for a matter of a few hours when the dog started having intestinal problems and relieving himself throughout the house. That was Monday. It is now Wednesday and Scooter has added vomitting to his list of endearing qualities. He's been okay now for about 12 hours so I'm hoping we'll get through the night without having to break out the disinfectant.

peace at last

The kittens are gone. We dropped them off at the Humane Society on Saturday morning. I was the only one in is that when I was the most annoyed by them? The counselor was very confident they would be adopted quickly.

The house is much calmer now, as am I. It also helped I had a girls weekend with old friends. Even though it put me a little behind in my work, it was well worth it. I haven't laughed that much in a long time!

can't seem to shake these kittens

Unbelievable....the guy that was going to take a kitten decided not to and a second call to Animal Friends resulted in a bust - they have a waiting list for kitten admission! As much as I hate to do it, I think we're going to have to take them to the Humane Society. When we were there looking for a dog, they said they rarely kill the animals - only if an animal displays vicious behavior. It breaks my heart, but I'm losing my mind here. Even Wesley said we have too many animals. And everyone knows, children are brutally honest.

Bud's watching some tech show about communicating with the internet through a chip in your brain or something like that. If that's what it is really about, how creepy. I'm pretty good at tuning the tv out while I'm working but sometimes bits and pieces sneak through and I get a really messed up version of the show. Last semester he was watching the celebrity skater show and from the little snipets I heard I thought it was american idol or some singing show like that. As the background music played for the skaters, I remember thinking how amazing it was that these celebrities sounded just like the original singers. It's tough having the only computer located in the same room with the tv.

random thoughts

Bud has a lead on one of the kittens....we're going to try to talk the guy into taking both since they love each other so much. It will be sad to separate them.

I'm still working on my tags. It's not hard, just time consuming. This summer is going to be crazy. I loaded my van with three boxes of manuals and software I have to go through and figure out what I want to use next year or toss. Have no idea when I'm going to fit it in. There's never enough time.

It's a freakin' zoo here

Too many animals underfoot - they are driving me nuts. It's been a week now since we found the kittens and they HAVE TO GO. The kids are all over them, Scooter goes at them like they are lollipops, Junior hisses every time he sees them and Samantha's nerves are so shot she's pulled a large patch of fur out of her chest. I feel like all I do is yell at the dog to stop gnawing on the kittens and constantly correct the kids with how they are holding them or that they are holding them too much. Stop the insanity!

As for school, I still don't feel completely sure of what's going on in Info Tech - things seem really disorganized because there are so many students in different groups with different instructors all trying to mesh but be separate at the same time. Prof. Wilson created separate files for us to post to so that should help alot.

A New Semester...

Break is over and my "half-way-there" semester has begun. I've got a couple of education classes, Intro to Information Technologies, and Special Topics with Sally Myers (you gotta love Sally). Our first class met on Thursday and it was like deja vu from last semester....same room, same people, same seats. It brought a certain comfort level I don't normally feel until a few weeks into the class.

I think I'll learn alot from Information Technologies about the systems and network side of computers - things I really don't feel comfortable with at all. I'm kind of excited to be blogging (nerd alert!) - now I'll know what the heck my students are talking about. Although, I don't see myself as the type to blog on my own. I've spent way too many years recording my thoughts in a locked diary to just put them all right out there for anyone to see. But I also never thought I'd go back to school......
