one for good luck

This is post 34, one more than we need and I'm doing it for the luck. It's been a wild semester. I don't know if I will be able to take four classes again next summer. It was very hard on my family. My poor kids are not used to me being so on edge, tired and stressed. I hate that I don't have the patience I used to. It'll come back though once the stress of school is over. Another year and I'm done.

bud's birthday

Bud turns 35 tomorrow. Holy cow. Where have the years gone? We will be celebrating on Saturday even though I don't realy have the time. I have so much to do for my DI class it isn't even funny, besides studying for my Info tech final. I don't have the heart to cancel saturdays plans though because Bud has been so accommodating with my new school and work schedules.

the baby has arrived

My sister-in-law had her baby yesterday. He's apparantly 9 pounds 3 ounces but I don't buy it. He's so tiny! He's a real doll-baby. Wesley is so excited to teach him all kinds of things and Ella wants to dress him up and carry him around. I don't think she was too happy about me helping her hold the baby, but she'll get to do it by herself soon enough.

scooter update

The poor dog has had to go back to the vet twice because his incision keeps opening up. He's been wearing a cone for a week and has to wear it until friday. The poor thing is getting depressed and driving us nuts because he keeps crashing into things. He knocked Ella over just walking by her. What a horrible experience!

The neuter of Scooter

Yes, yes, poor Scooter was neutered on Monday. It's for the best....we don't need more homeless animals in the world. He's not doing too good though. Bud is taking him to the vet today because his incision opened up and it's looking a little oozy. I don't know how I'm supposed to keep a puppy inactive for 10 days. It's absurd. He's getting so antsy that he's just starting to jump straight up in the air when he sees the kids. Literally, like three feet. He is a springer spaniel, so what do you expect. I hope he doesn't have to go back under. He didn't do well the first time. The vet said his heart rate dropped to 36. What a drag.

Study Group

Kathy and I have been studying for the info tech final. I'm so glad she's into that because it's really helping. We can talk about the terms and work off each other's knowledge or understanding of something. She's so funny. I thought I was going to start laughing uncontrollably in class Tuesday when I saw the look on her face during the Weird Al video. It was priceless. Her look that is, not the video. I think part of it is that I'm just getting delirious.

coming to an end

I can't believe there's only two weeks left of this semester. I think I'm in trouble. I have so much to do before then. Bud is back to working full time which means I have the kids a lot more than I did and my full Tuesdays and Thursdays at Pitt are no more. I've got to make up the time lost, but when? I'll guess I'll have to extend my evening hours even more. Who needs sleep?

progress...

We are slowly making progress on our new bathroom. If only we had more time to work on it. I'm really excited about our plans to add on and I just LOVE the idea my mom came up with. I remembered seeing a house with a similar addition and when I went to look at it today I realized it is exactly like what we are planning. It looks great!

adventures at the cabin

As if Friday wasn't enough adventure, I meet my friend and her two kids at their cabin near Nemacolin. The kids had a great time despite the setbacks. Her parents couldn't find the keys to the boat so we went to a rock slide instead but the waters were so rapid there was no way we were letting the kids go in. Walking back to the car, Ella tripped and gashed her forehead open. I thought she was going to need stiches but after we cleaned her up it seemed okay. Went to Cucumber Falls after that and the boys had a great time climbing over the rocks and in the icy water. It was a restless night with Wes, Ella, and me crammed into a single bed. Needless to say I'm exhausted today and my neck hurts something fierce.

lake adventures

Spent Friday at the lake with the kids picking handful after handful of blackberries. They had a great time riding their bikes and exploring until I thought we were exploring in the middle of patch of poison ivy and made them strip down to nothing and rinse with spring water at the water pump. It was freezing but better than the alternative of being covered with itchies.

Ella dear

I don't know why but all of a sudden, Ella has developed a fear at night. She has always gone to be so nicely and now she gets out at least three times after we tuck her in and cries that she's afraid. I have to say, I don't have a whole lot of sympathy for her because I think she's fibbing, but who knows...I understand kids do develop fears at different times. So tonight after tucking her in three times, I finally told her that it was time to go to sleep and if she gets out again I'm putting her right back in bed without saying a word to her (I learned that from SuperNanny). I had to put her back in several more times but she finally just gave up and went to sleep. Kids are so exhausting!

yet another

Not looking forward to the 4th of july. Should really be spending the day working and not having to deal with adults (can't mention names) pouting over something stupid. It's so idiotic I don't even want to put it in writing so I'll be ultra vague just to have something to post. Gotta go work on my HTML assignment now. I really want to learn how to create web pages. I wish it was an in-lab class so it could be hands-on instead of struggle on your own.

ughhhh

I just started two more classes that are six weeks in length so my schedule just got super crazy. I don't know if I'll do this again next summer, it might be too much for my family to handle. I feel like I'm sacrificing my kids for school and that's no good. I keep reminding myself that it's short term inconvenience for long term gain. The kids aren't buying it though.

no extra credit, huh?

Okay, so the professor who does not believe in extra credit (it's not really extra if it's work that was supposed to be done and then was changed at the LAST MINUTE) DOES believe in giving a free point to EVERYONE, even to those who got the question right on the midterm in the first place!!!! Sounds like those students are getting an EXTRA point to me, professor. Not only that but the assignment that was originally due on the 20th and was delayed to the 23rd (that's cool, the system was down) was again delayed to FRIDAY because he asked if people weren't done yet and some were not. How can he not see this as a form of extra credit, he just extended the extension by a week!!!!????? It's the inconsistency that drives me mad.
